FilmBack
Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how FilmBack ("we," "us") handles your information when you use the FilmBack app. By using the app, you agree to this policy.
Questions? Email support@junnyapps.com.
1. Information we handle
We don't ask for your name, email, or password to use FilmBack. The information we handle is limited to what's needed to run the app.
What we collect automatically
- An anonymous user ID generated by Firebase Authentication so we can keep your scan history, AI credits, and subscription state across launches.
- Subscription and credit state (via RevenueCat), so we know whether you have Premium and how many AI credits remain. Apple handles your payment details; we never see them.
- Basic analytics (Firebase Analytics) like "app opened" — used in aggregate to understand how the app is used.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) when the app crashes, so we can fix bugs.
- Standard device info collected automatically by these SDKs (device model, OS version, language, region).
What you provide
- Photos of film negatives you capture with the camera or pick from your photo library.
- Text prompts you type when you use AI Edit.
- Referral codes you enter, if any.
2. Permissions
FilmBack only asks for a permission at the moment it's actually needed:
- Camera — requested the first time you tap the shutter. Required to scan negatives.
- Photo Library (Add Only) — requested only when you save a finished photo to your library. The app uses Apple's system photo picker to import photos, which does not require the photo library permission.
- Notifications — optional. Used for occasional reminders.
You can change any of these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
3. How your photos are processed
- Basic negative-to-positive conversion happens on your device.
- AI enhancement and AI Edit send your photo (and your prompt, if any) to our AI processing providers — Wiro AI (
wiro.ai) and fal (fal.run) — over an encrypted connection. - AI providers process your photo only to return the result. They do not use your photos to train their models, and neither do we.
- We do not store your original photos on our servers. Only basic metadata about each scan (timestamp, film type) is saved.
4. Who we share data with
We share data only with the providers that operate the app:
- Apple — handles all purchases and subscriptions.
- Google Firebase — anonymous identity, credit/subscription state, analytics, crash reports.
- RevenueCat — subscription management.
- Wiro AI and fal — AI photo processing, only when you use AI features.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. How long we keep data
- Photos sent for AI processing are kept by AI providers only as long as needed to return the result, then deleted under their retention policies.
- Scan metadata and subscription/credit state stay tied to your anonymous user ID.
- Analytics and crash logs follow Firebase's default retention (analytics up to 14 months, crashes up to 90 days).
6. Your rights
You can:
- revoke camera, photo library, or notification permission anytime in iOS Settings;
- delete the app, which removes the locally stored scan history;
- request deletion of your server-side data (anonymous account, scan metadata, credit ledger) by emailing support@junnyapps.com.
7. Children
FilmBack is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
8. International transfers
Our service providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under their standard contractual safeguards.
9. Security
All network traffic uses HTTPS/TLS. Server-side data is encrypted at rest. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable precautions.
10. Changes
If we update this policy, we'll update the date at the top.
