Terms of Use
Last updated: September 26, 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms govern the tomomo service offered under the Junny Apps brand. “We,” “us,” and “our” refer to the provider of that service. Contact us at [email protected].
The welcome screen presents an agreement sentence with inline links to these Terms, our Privacy Policy and an in-app AI Usage explanation above Agree & continue. The returning-user sign-in flow also presents the agreement before its sign-in options. By tapping Agree & continue, you agree to these Terms, including the community rules in Section 5. The welcome notice and AI Usage explanation describe the third-party AI data sharing involved in the service. If you do not agree, do not continue, create an account or use the service. The Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, shared and deleted. These Terms and the Privacy Policy remain available in Settings.
The iOS app is licensed under Apple's Standard End User License Agreement unless a separate valid licence is expressly provided with the app. These Terms govern the account, community, learning and subscription service and do not replace Apple's licence or store terms. Apple does not provide or endorse the tomomo community service.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter this agreement, and permitted to use the service under applicable law. Do not create or use an account for a person under 18. Availability can vary by country, provider coverage and App Store storefront.
Provide accurate account information and protect your credentials. You may use an appropriate display name, but must not impersonate someone or misrepresent your age. Do not sell, transfer or share account access, or use multiple accounts to evade restrictions. Notify us promptly of suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for your own activity and reasonable protection of your account, subject to applicable law.
3. The service and AI
tomomo supports language learning through communities, translated chats, learning cards, lessons, saved expressions, speaking practice and related tools. Some features are free; others require Premium. Applicable allowances and included benefits are described in the app.
AI can automatically translate messages and prepare learning material from conversations and learning activity. It also generates explanations, speech, pronunciation feedback and Ask Tomo answers. Relevant content is processed by the providers described in the Privacy Policy.
Google Gemini API receives message text, limited conversation context, display names and language preferences to provide translations and learning explanations. When you use the corresponding features, it also processes pronunciation recordings and reference sentences, uploaded profile photos for safety checks, and text for natural-speech generation.
OpenAI API receives relevant messages, studied sentences, saved expressions and learning context to prepare lessons and learning material. Ask Tomo can send your question, source sentence or learning card, selected word, language preferences and limited recent question-and-answer history to generate a response. These tutor answers are not posted to your community chat.
This processing takes place on third-party servers. Translation and learning preparation can be automatic, and your messages may be context for another community member's learning features. Section 4 of the Privacy Policy gives further details about processing, provider terms and retention; Sections 8 and 10 explain deletion and privacy rights. These Terms do not grant blanket permission for unrelated uses or remove rights under applicable privacy law.
AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased or inappropriate. Translations can alter meaning and pronunciation feedback is an estimate. Check important output. The service does not provide professional medical, legal, financial or emergency advice, accredited qualifications, or guaranteed fluency, learning outcomes or relationships with other members.
An AI tutor is an automated system, not a human teacher. Community members are independent users; we do not verify every identity or statement.
4. Your content
You retain the rights you hold in messages, profile information, photos, recordings, community descriptions and other material you submit (“Your Content”). Submit only material you have the right to use and disclose. Do not share other people's personal information without an appropriate right or permission.
You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, reproduce, process, translate, adapt into learning material, transmit and display Your Content only as reasonably needed to operate the service you use, deliver it to its intended audience, maintain safety, respond to requests and meet legal obligations. Providers performing those functions for us may exercise that permission for those purposes. This is not permission to sell Your Content or use it in unrelated advertising.
The permission lasts while content is held for those purposes and ends when it is removed from our systems, except for narrowly necessary lawful retention and copies independently kept by recipients. It does not override privacy, deletion, intellectual-property or other mandatory rights.
Posting to a community lets members receive your content and translations and use them through the app's learning features. Community learning material may be generated from messages. Private communities and private AI tutor features are not end-to-end encrypted. Do not use them for confidential or highly sensitive communications.
AI output may not be unique. You are responsible for how you use or share it and for respecting third-party rights. We do not promise exclusive ownership of generated output.
5. Community rules
We do not allow objectionable content or abusive behavior. You must not:
- harass, bully, threaten, stalk, or target people with hate or discrimination;
- post sexual exploitation or abuse material, sexual content involving minors, grooming, nudity or pornographic material;
- encourage self-harm, suicide, terrorism or violence, or post graphic gore;
- promote unlawful activity, trafficking, scams, phishing or fraud;
- spam, send unsolicited bulk promotions or manipulate community activity;
- impersonate others, unlawfully disclose private information or infringe rights;
- use the service for sexual solicitation or to exploit or endanger others;
- knowingly file false reports or coordinate reports to silence others;
- bypass age restrictions, bans, payment controls, usage limits or security;
- scrape personal information, use unauthorized bots or disrupt the service;
- obtain credentials or private information you are not authorized to access.
These rules cover profiles, community names, messages, photos, AI inputs and other submissions. Non-graphic educational discussion is assessed in context; describing a harmful experience to seek support is not itself encouragement.
6. Safety, moderation and appeals
Press and hold another user's message and choose Report Message to report it. In-app controls also let you block users. Send other safety or rights concerns to [email protected], identifying the content. For immediate danger, contact local emergency services; tomomo is not an emergency service.
We use available automated checks, reports and operator review. Uploaded profile photos receive an automated safety check. Report-based rules may automatically restrict community participation pending review. Moderation cannot catch every violation, and content may appear before it is removed.
We may restrict distribution, remove content, remove someone from a community, suspend access or terminate an account where reasonably necessary to address violations, safety/security risks or legal obligations. We consider severity and context. Where practicable and lawful, we will explain restrictions and provide an opportunity to contest them; urgent risks can require immediate action.
Request review at [email protected] using “Moderation appeal” and relevant account/content details, including for automated restrictions. Reports and appeals are assessed according to urgency and applicable law; we do not promise a fixed resolution time for every case. We may preserve evidence or disclose it to competent authorities where required or permitted by law.
Blocking does not recall delivered content or prevent someone from creating a different account.
7. Premium, billing and cancellation
Plans and price. Premium is offered through Apple's In-App Purchase system, with monthly and annual plans where available. The purchase screen shows benefits, billing period, localized price and eligible trial or introductory offer. The price and offer at confirmation control the purchase. An annual plan's monthly equivalent is a comparison; the displayed annual amount is billed for the year.
Payment and automatic renewal. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at purchase confirmation, or after an eligible trial as disclosed at purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the subscription or trial period ends. Apple may charge renewal within the 24 hours before the next period begins, at the applicable renewal price. Price changes follow Apple's notice/consent procedures and applicable law.
Trials. Trials and introductory offers apply only when displayed and when Apple determines eligibility. A trial converts to the paid plan shown at confirmation unless canceled in time. Cancel at least 24 hours before a free or discounted trial ends to avoid the next charge. Under Apple's applicable rules, free-trial access can end immediately upon cancellation.
Manage or cancel. Use iOS Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions → tomomo, or the app's Manage subscription link. Cancellation stops future renewal. Paid access normally continues through the paid period, subject to refunds, revocation and applicable store rules. See Apple's cancellation instructions.
Deleting tomomo or your tomomo account does not automatically cancel your Apple subscription. Cancellation is separate from deletion. You may request account deletion without waiting for the subscription to expire.
Restore purchases. Use Restore or Restore purchases with the Apple Account used for the purchase. Restoring an eligible subscription does not create another subscription. Access depends on the valid entitlement and service account associated with the purchase.
Refunds and consumer rights. Apple processes App Store refund requests; see Request a refund. Eligibility depends on circumstances, storefront rules and applicable law. These Terms do not remove mandatory cancellation, withdrawal, refund or other consumer remedies. Contact us if a purchased feature is unavailable.
Premium is subject to reasonable safeguards against abuse, security incidents and excessive automated use. These safeguards do not permit us to disregard the material benefits represented at purchase.
8. Ending access and deleting an account
You may stop using tomomo and initiate deletion at Profile → Settings → Account → Delete account. When the in-app deletion request succeeds, tomomo removes your account and associated personal information from its active systems, including messages you sent, their translations, profile information and personal learning data, as described in the Privacy Policy. Processor requests may take additional time or remain pending while a service issue is resolved. The Privacy Policy explains limited legal retention, backups and independently held copies. Deletion does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription.
We may suspend or end access for the reasons in Section 6, or retire the service or a feature for legitimate operational or legal reasons. Where reasonably possible, we will give advance notice of material discontinuation and explain options for affected paid access. Mandatory remedies remain. Losing account access does not itself cancel Apple billing.
Terms that need to survive termination, including accrued payment rights, lawful retention and dispute rights, survive only as necessary and lawful.
9. Our intellectual property
Software, branding, illustrations, interface and materials supplied by us or our licensors are protected by intellectual-property laws. Except as allowed by the software licence or mandatory law, you may not reproduce, distribute, sell or commercially exploit them without permission. Your Content remains yours.
Report intellectual-property concerns to [email protected] with contact details, the work or right involved, the specific content/location and why its use is unauthorized. We may request more information and act as required by applicable law.
10. Availability and liability
We aim to provide a useful, reliable service but cannot promise uninterrupted availability or error-free AI output or third-party infrastructure. Maintenance, interruptions and technical limits can occur. We will exercise the care required by applicable law.
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided as available without additional implied warranties beyond those the law requires. We are not responsible for losses that could not reasonably have been foreseen or business losses arising from this consumer service, to the extent lawful. Other responsibility is determined under applicable law; these Terms do not impose a blanket waiver of claims.
Nothing excludes or limits liability for fraud, deliberate misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, gross negligence where exclusion is prohibited, breach of mandatory privacy rights, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Statutory warranties, digital-content remedies and consumer rights remain unaffected.
11. Disputes and applicable law
Contact [email protected] so we can try to resolve concerns. You do not give up access to regulators, competent courts or statutory consumer complaint processes.
Applicable law and jurisdiction are determined by the laws governing the relationship. Consumers retain mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings in available forums. These Terms do not impose mandatory arbitration, a class-action waiver or an exclusive foreign court.
12. Changes and general terms
We may update these Terms for service, security or legal changes. We will publish the revised date and give reasonable additional notice of material changes before they take effect, unless an urgent legal or security reason requires otherwise. Changes do not remove accrued rights. Where the law requires express agreement, we will request it. If you do not accept a material change, you may stop using the service, cancel renewal and exercise applicable refund or termination rights.
If a provision is unenforceable, the rest applies to the extent lawful. Delayed enforcement is not a permanent waiver. We may transfer this agreement with the service only without reducing protections required by law. No language-precedence rule overrides mandatory local law.
